a child is born
a child like no other
a child born
to change the world
a child to turn the world
of Rome upside down
an “Anointed One”
to challenge greed and power
the stars in the sky celebrate
the scholar honors with kingly gifts
Herod and all Jerusalem with him
tremble
fear who sits on the shoulder of Rome
awakens
fear of a fall
fear of being nothing
the Magi bend their knees
hold a child in their arms
creaking old voices laugh
with a child whose laugh lights the sky
come to the home of Mary
visit the child of love
bring your gift of presence
bring your gift of self
